SLDA was established by Mr Gary Foo (Director of En Motion Dance School), the pioneer in Singapore's Street Latin Dance Scene.
With the vision of improving and ensuring sustained interest for Street Latin in Singapore, he believes the continued improvement of dance instructors is key.

SLDA provides a complete syllabus of dance fundamentals derived from studying key styles of Salsa (Cuban, New York, LA) and Bachata (Dominican, Sensual, Modern).
Beyond dance techniques, SLDA also places strong value on understand dance history (Latin, Salsa, Bachata etc), teaching techniques, Verbal and Communication training, class management training, professional etiquette etc.

Mr Gary Foo, Chair / Chief Lecturer
With almost 18 years of coaching experience. Mr Gary Foo has trained many generations of talented instructors in the Latin dance scene, both locally and overseas.
These dancers have gone on to achieve 9 x Asia Champion titles, along with achieving multiple international awards and accolades during their time at En Motion.
Being one of Singapore's star instructors, Gary has been featured on many platforms, including Mediacorp, Straits Times, and Channel News Asia, and was one of the first Singaporean instructor that was invited to judge, dance and teach in more than 20 countries worldwide.
Gary is trained in Cuban Salsa, New York Salsa, LA Salsa, Columbia Salsa, Afro Rumba, Orishas, Palo Congo, Reggaeton, Dominican Bachata, Sensual Bachata, Modern Bachata and is the creator of R&B style Bachata. Gary's dedication to further his understanding of the dance form has led him to travel to Cuba, the birth place of Salsa and Afro Rumba dance.
Ms Teo Wen Xin, Vice Chair / Lecturer
One of the strongest Latin dancers in Singapore, Wen Xin was crowned the 2 x Asia Bachata Champion in 2017 and 2019.
She has since competed and performed in various nationwide and international group competitions and performances, including:
- The Dance Floor Competition 2015 : Finalist
- IDO World Latin Championships (Korea): World 4th
In 2019/2020, Wen Xin crowned Queen of Bachata in Singapore Bachata Jack & Jill League which spanned across 10 competitive rounds.
Mr Jackson Tan & Ms June Gan, Lecturers
Jackson and June are among the few pioneers of the salsa community in Singapore. With 20 years of experience teaching salsa dance here and at overseas salsa festivals, they continue to embrace the sport and offer classes to various groups who wish to learn a fun and social dance or to become a better dancer.
Together they have contributed to the creation, growth and development of the Latin scene we see today and their experiences will be invaluable to all aspiring Instructor trainees
Joshua Yao Ling Feng, Lecturer
Joshua has performed in countless events and even represented Singapore at the 2012 Grand Prix Italia, where the team won the Latin Dance Category.
In 2019, Joshua relocated to NYC for a year, where he performed with two professionally acclaimed dance teams, Esencia Dance Group (directed by Jorge Salas) and Iroko (directed by multi-championship winning couple Ernesto Bulnes and Denisse Cambria). He was also selected to compete in the 2019 World Salsa Summit held in Miami, FL with Iroko, clinching 1st Runner amongst 14 other professional teams.
Together with his partner Angela, the duo was crowned Asia Salsa Champion in the Asia Latin Championship 2020 Professional category, fending off strong contenders from Asia.
Mr Douglas Chue, Lecturer
Douglas began his dance journey under the tutelage of street dancer Lionel Araya. A few years on, he trained with the Adrian and Anita Salsa Company in Spain and was inspired by the 6-time World Salsa Champions. Since then, Douglas has performed, competed and taught around the world in countries such as Croatia, France, Switzerland, South Africa, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and the USA.
He is one of the best Asian Latin dancer of his generation and has won 3 Asian Championship titles. A top role model for all Instructors, he is one of the few Instructors who can compete, perform and social dance equally well
He also represented Singapore in many prestigious championship in particular the renowned World Latin Cup and World Salsa Summit
Vivienne Lynette Lim Ching, Lecturer
Vivienne has performed, taught and competed in numerous dance events both locally and abroad - in India, Bangkok and Australia just to name a few.
She was also featured on U-weekly Magazine, Nüyou Magazine, Channel News Asia and Visa Card Advertisement. Additionally, she is the certified trainer for Daniel y Daniel Team Singapore and Desiree Ladies Team Singapore.
Her many accolades also includes having represented En Motion in:
- Asia Bachata Championship 2014: Champion
- Singapore Latin Championship 2016: National Open Salsa Champion
- National Bachata Battle 2018: Champion
Nick Tang Jian Xiong, Lecturer
Nick was the 2016 National Bachata champion and competed in the following competitions:
- The Dance Floor Competition 2015 (Singapore Mediacorp): Finalist

- Asia Bachata Open Championship 2017 (India): 1st Runner Up

Angela Bok Ke Wei, Lecturer
Angela was trained in Ballet, Chinese and Modern dance from the age of 7 – setting a strong foundation for her dance career from an early age.
At age 18, she spent a year in China learning, teaching and performing.
To date, she has competed and taught a wide range of dances in Singapore, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shen Zhen, Malaysia and Vietnam. She was also the Champion for both Inter-tertiary Salsa in 2012 and the Asia Latin Championship in 2020 in the Salsa Professional Category.
